Boko Haram attacks Borno again, 8 people feared killed, two injured


– Boko Haram insurgents launched another attack on a village in Borno state on Tuesday night

The northern state of Borno was on Tuesday night, September 15, hit with another deadly attack by the Boko Haram insurgents.

The Sun reported that the attack which happened in Wasaram village left two people injured with eight others feared killed.

Ali Musa, one of the residents who fled the village to the neighbouring Yobe state reportedly said the insurgents were about 30 in number.

“They came to Wasaram at about 8pm in vehicles. They were about 30 in number. They started shooting people from the entrance of the village. Eight people were killed and two injured in the attack,” Musa was quoted to have said.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the speaker of Borno state House of Assembly, Abdulkareem Lawan, on Thursday, September 3, said at least three local government councils areas of the state have been deserted following the incessant insurgent attacks.

The affected local government areas – Guzamala, Marte and Abadam, are in the northern part of the state, which suffered serious devastations owing to over 11 years of Boko Haram activities.

The speaker made the disclosure after reports emerged that at least nine soldiers and an unconfirmed number of Boko Haram fighters loyal to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) lost their lives in two separate confrontations in Magumeri and Kukawa local government areas on Tuesday, September 1.

In another report, the senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, narrated the ordeal his hometown has suffered in the hands of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents.

Ndume said the insurgents killed about 75 elders in one night during a raid on his hometown in Gwoza local government area.

Ndume disclosed this on Wednesday, August 26, at a meeting organised by the senate committee on special duties and the North East Development Commission (NEDC) in Maiduguri.
