Barcelona president is reportedly not interested in holding any meeting with captain Lionel Messi as regards the Argentine’s future at the Camp Nou.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner surprised the world after submitting his transfer request to the Catalans earlier this week.
His decision has made top European clubs show interest in landing the 33-year-old this summer despite having 12 more months on his current deal.
Barca are not ready to allow their skipper leave and the president has insisted that any club interested in signing the forward must meet his £624 million release fee.
SunSport reveals that the 57-year-old was said to have turned a chance to meet with the attacker to negotiate his exit from the Nou Camp, saying he will only meet to discuss terms of a contract.
This means that his prospective club such as Manchester City or Juventus will have to break the current world-record transfer fee £198 million.
The Sun claims Barca president is also refusing to terminate the forward’s contract to allow him to leave on a free this summer, as a gesture of good-will after 19 years of incredible service.
Messi’s current deal lapses next summer and he could join Manchester City on a free transfer and reunite with former boss pep Guardiola.
Meanwhile, Juventus are also dreaming of having the Argentine in their squad and partner Cristiano Ronaldo in their attack according to L’Equipe.
The French news outlet also revealed that Messi’s father and agent Jorge “politely listened” to offers from PSG and Juventus, despite being linked with Premier League move.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Lionel Messi of Barcelona has told his father that he is interested in leaving the Camp Nou this summer and wants to join Premier League side Manchester City.
This latest development will be a big blow for Barcelona fans who have been appealing to the Argentine star for him not to leave the club this summer.
Issues of Lionel Messi telling Barcelona chiefs that he wants to leave actually started after the club’s heavy defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
