Mikel Arteta who is the manager of Premier League side Arsenal has made it clear that he will be happy to see Barcelona captain Lionel Messi moving to the Premier League.
For close to 20 years now, Lionel Messi has never played for any other club than Barcelona where he has won all the trophies any player can think of.
But things became sour at the Nou Camp after the end of the 2019/20 Spanish La Liga season in which Barcelona failed to win any title.
Barcelona fans are still livid with the side’s embarrassing defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League losing 8-2.
It was after the encounter that Lionel Messi handed the club’s chiefs a transfer request for the very first time in his career at Barcelona.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner has however been linked with Manchester City, Paris-Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.
According to the report on UK Sun, Mikel Arteta stated clearly that seeing Lionel Messi in the Premier League will be a cheering one for fans and the topflight itself.
“If Messi comes to England we’re all going to enjoy it.
“I have been a Barcelona fan since I was a young boy and it’s sad to see the best player in football history leaving that club,” Mikel Arteta explained according to UK Sun.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Premier League side Manchester City reportedly offered Barcelona mega million plus Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus for them to sign Lionel Messi this summer.
Messi handed in a transfer request following a fallout between him and newly appointed coach Ronald Koeman.
Valverde was fired with Barcelona at the top of La Liga and his replacement, Quique Setién, was sent packing when Bayern Munich demolished them 8-2 in the Champions League.
The news of Messi wanting to leave Barcelona came as a shock for all the club’s fans considering the number of years the Argentine has been with them.
There have been discussions among Barcelona chiefs since Messi made it clear that he wants to leave, but it seems the Argentine is not reversing his decision.
And according to the latest report by Daily Star, Manchester City are also ready to sign Messi with the club offering Barcelona Gabriel Jesus and cash.
