NEW STYLISH WAY TO DYE
When I helped my eight-year-old experiment with messy inks and rubber bands last summer, I never guessed tie-dye would be the look of 2020. But then Dior and Chanel swapped tweeds and ballgowns for tie-dye styles. Luckily you don’t have to go for garish whirls and splotches; the sophisticated way to wear this look is with ombré — the gradual blending of one colour to another.
MORE FUN THAN FLORALS
If you’re fed up with florals, this is the perfect way to add some cheery colour to your look. I like the way the colours bleed together for a very different take on print. And you’ll be in good company.
Victoria Beckham posted pictures of her DIY tie-dye on a white T-shirt during lockdown, while Jennifer Lopez chose all the colours of the rainbow in matching hoodie and joggers earlier this month.

JUST FORMAL ENOUGH
Not only for T-shirts, the striking ombré effect on this elegant Ted Baker maxi-dress makes it perfect for a wedding or event during the current restrictions — it’s dramatic and different without being overly formal. Just don’t forget the right shapewear. Spanx pants are nothing new of course, but I love its new unlined bralette (Bra-llelujah, £36 next.co.uk). With no wires, hardware or padding, it’s still supportive and makes dressing up as comfy as loungewear.
BLUES, NOT BLACK
The palette of mixed blues in this dress make a smart, not too dressed-up alternative to black. For a daytime look, really go for it with vibrant colour in Seafolly’s pink and white kaftan. Or bring a pop of brightness to your jeans with this top from J Crew.
