Sadio Mane has been tagged to be the player to fit into Lionel Messi shoes if he leaves Barcelona this summer, according to reports.
Several top European clubs including Manchester City, PSG and Inter Milan have shown their interest signing the Argentine star.
According to Spanish news media outletTMW via Sport, Liverpool striker Mane is the man La Blaugrana would turn to as they will be looking to meet with his huge £107million price tag.
The Senegalese international has been in consistent form for the Reds since his 2016 move from Southampton to Anfield.
And the 28-year-old has been a huge part of Jurgen Klopp’s success in the last two years winning the Champions League and landing the long awaited Premier League title.
Mane scored 22 goals in 47 appearances last season as the former Red Bull Salzburg star finished three places behind Messi in the 2019 Ballon d’Or awards.
He was last summer’s target for Spanish giants Real Madrid but Los Blancos could not persuade the current African Footballer of the Year to move to Spain.
Mane has played under current Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman and could reunite with his former boss after refusing to sign a new deal at Anfield.
His current deal with the Merseyside club expires in the summer of 2023 and is believed to be currently earning £220,000-per-week.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi appeared in public for the first time along with his teammate Luis Suarez after handing a transfer request to Barcelona.
The pair who have falling out of favour with the club were spotted leaving a restaurant in the city of Catalonia in their respective cars, courtesy a video clip from El Chiringuito TV.
