President Buhari appoints CEOs for NAN, eight other key agencies


– President Buhari has made new key appointments in the Ministry of Information and Culture

– Nine CEOs were appointed for several agencies in the ministry, including the News Agency of Nigeria

– The appointments take effect from Tuesday, September 1, 2020

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) for nine (9) of the agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.

A statement posted on the official Twitter page of the Nigerian presidency said the approval letter for the appointments was conveyed to the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, by Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to the president, on Tuesday, August 25.

Legit.ng gathers that the appointments take effect from Tuesday, September 1, 2020.

Below is the list of the new appointees:

NNPC board members get a new chairman

Mr Buki Ponle – Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria

Mr Nura Sani Kangiwa – Director General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism

Mr Francis Ndubuisi Nwosu – Executive Secretary, Nigerian Press Council

Mr Ebeten William Ivara, Director-General, National Gallery of Arts;

Mr Olalekan Fadolapo – Registrar/CEO of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria

Prof. Sunday Enessi Ododo – General Manager/CEO, National Theatre

Mr Ado Mohammed Yahuza – Executive Secretary/CEO, National Institute for Cultural Orientation

Prof. Aba Isa Tijjani – Director-General, National Commission for Museums & Monuments

Mrs Oluwabunmi Ayobami Amao – Director General, Centre For Black And African Arts & Civilization

Similarly, President Buhari on Wednesday, August 26, inaugurated the newly appointed permanent secretaries and other government officials.

The swearing ceremony, which was held inside the council chambers at the State House, Abuja, highlighted the virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of the week.

Bashir Ahmad, the presidential aide on new media, made this disclosure via a tweet on his Twitter page on Wednesday afternoon.

In other news, President Buhari has reacted to the good news from the World Health Organisation (WHO) that Nigeria and Africa have been declared free from polio.

Speaking on the impressive development, President Buhari said that this means he has fulfilled his campaign promise of eradicating the disease from the country.

President Buhari said that he made the pledge that the next leader of the nation after him will not have to deal with polio.
