Thiago Silva could be wearing the prestigious captain’s arm-band for Chelsea if he completes his move to Stamford Bridge according to reports.
Reports claim Blues boss Frank Lampard is ready to hand the center-back the responsibility when he signs a two year deal with the west London club this week.
The Brazilian international played his last game for Paris Saint-Germain when they lost by 1-0 in the Champions League final to Bayern Munich in Lisbon.
Thomas Tuchel has done everything to persuade the 35-year-old to remain at the club but the central defender seems to have made up his mind.
And according to Brazilian news outlet Globo, Lampard is willing to cement Silva’s place in his squad with the skipper’s arm-band which has been worn by Cesar Azpilicueta.
Silva who spent three seasons with AC Milan and eight long years with the Parisians rejected the chance to make more money in the Middle East and the Chinese Super League.
The former Fluminense defender stated that he wanted to remain in Europe and play in a topflight league to boost his chances of representing Brazil at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Thiago Silva is edging closer to a move to Chelsea after making his last appearance for Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
The 35-year-old’s current deal with PSG ended this summer and he is now a free agent after spending eight years with the Parisians.
And the Brazilian central defender will become Frank Lampard’s third signing after Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner if things go according to plans.
Legit.ng also reported that Thiago Silva has indicated interest in playing in the Premier League and now his dreams is set to come true as Champions League finalists PSG have offered the Brazilian to Chelsea.
Silva is expected to be in action on Sunday, August 23 when the French champions face Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League.
It was gathered that the player’s contract will lapse at the end of this season and now he has been offered to the Premier League club for free.
