Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of landing Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz in a £90 million deal this summer.
The 21-year-old midfielder has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge all summer long as the Blues continued to beef up their squad for competition next campaign.
Having already signed of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, Frank Lampard is not satisfied with his set up for the 2020-21 season.
SunSport reports that the West London club has now been given the green light finalise his deal after Roman Abramovich released a sum of £150 million for the move.
Sources close to the club claim the deal is valued around £90m plus add-ons and will become the club’s record signing.
This means that Kepa Arrizabalaga’s £71.6m move from Athletic Bilbao means he is now the second most expensive player in the Blues squad.
Havertz is expected to sign a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, according to Bild expert Christian Falk.
Falk tweeted: “Leverkusen will soon accept Chelsea’s offer for Kai Havertz.
“The transfer is perfect. “5 years contract for Havertz. Total Transfer fee 100 Mio Euro including adds on.”
Meanwhile, Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller insisted that they are not desperate to see the attacker leave right now, but he also refused to rule out the switch.
Lampard is also said to be close to sealing a £50m move for Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell, while Declan Rice’s deal could be in the pipeline.
Reports claim Chelsea are hoping they can secure land the West Ham United star for £45m instead of the £90m tag placed on him.
And the Blues, in a bid to raise funds for their summer targets, will try selling Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Emerson Palmieri his summer.
