A 55-year-old man who was reportedly confined for 30 years in a solitary room by his relatives has been rescued by the Kano state police command.
The spokesperson for the command, Abdullahi Haruna said the victim was confined to a log in a room by his relative for reportedly being mentally challenged, The Cable reported.
Haruna stated that the victim has been admitted into a medical facility in Rogo local government area of the state.
The police said it has already begun an investigation into the matter.
The development comes days after the police rescued one a 32-year-old man, Ahmad Aliyu who was imprisoned by his father for seven years.
Another 33-year-old victim, Ibrahim Lawan who was also held for 15 years by his father at Sheka Unguwar Fulani area of Kano was recently rescued by the police.
In another news, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu has revealed that most of the criminals who carry out havoc and inflict pain on citizens are actually foreigners.
Adamu made this crucial disclosure during a town-hall meeting held on Wednesday, August 19, at the headquarters of Zuru local government in Kebbi state.
The police boss said that based on reliable intelligence, bandits operating in the northern region are from the Islamic State of West Africa, The Cable reported.
Meanwhile, the governor of Katsina, Bello Masari, has revealed those who aide banditry and all violent crimes that have ravaged the state in recent times.
During his discussion with the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, on Wednesday, August 19, Masari said that these criminals get information from persons in the state.
The governor said that this is why security agencies have found it very difficult to defeat the bandits who carry out their havoc in the state.
