Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has explained why he believes the ruling party will win the Ondo state governorship election.
Sanwo-Olu who served as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) national campaign council for the Ondo poll said the party will emerge victorious in the poll because the incumbent governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has performed well.
The Lagos state governor made the statement on Thursday, August 20, at Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja according to a report by The Nation newspaper.
“The party’s confidence is buoyed by the giant strides of Governor Akeredolu in different areas of human endeavours,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He said the Akeredolu has moved Ondo from her hitherto parlous state and returned it to a trajectory of growth and development.
He expressed the confidence that the APC candidate will defeat the other 16 candidates from other political parties.
Meanwhile, following the alleged plot by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the governorship election in Edo state, the PDP and the leading opposition in the state, APC have engaged in verbal war.
Legit.ng gathered that the PDP national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, alleged at a press conference on Wednesday, August 20, in Abuja, that APC leaders were arm-twisting INEC to shift the election date.
The APC, however, said PDP is not prepared for the forthcoming Edo and Ondo states governorship elections.
In another news, the political tempo in Ondo is rising as the southwest state prepares for another civic duty to elect a new governor in October.
In light of this, Business mogul Jimoh Ibrahim has told the APC in Ondo to open its doors to receive more defectors from the PDP and other parties, The Nation reported.
Ibrahim disclosed this on Wednesday, August 19, when he received the APC working committee led by the chairman, Ade Adetimehin.
